Learning history of typography
The first step into the spring semester we started with an introduction with Typography. We started off by learning forms of communications throughout the start of time into modern day forms of communication. The use of communication such as pictures, arts, signs, portrayals through architecture and most importantly... Typography!
Learning about arts of communication in the Metropolitan Museum
In our trip to the Metropolitan Museum, We learned about the forms of communication through type and architecture as well as paintings, etc. This helped strengthen our previous knowledge about the history of Type.
Learning fonts
After learning the history of Typography, we began by printing fonts such as Old Style Garamond, Transitional Baskerville, Etc. As well as understanding and familiarizing ourselves with vocabulary involved in Typography
Using fundamental principals of design
After getting across the history of Typography came our personal use of Type. This was first seen in the spring semester with our 3 Letters Artwork and our 3 Letters and 1 Word Artwork; in which we used our fundamental principals of design to further improve our Design skills.
Studying Copperplate GothicOur final for the spring semester was creating and researching one of the many fonts provided to us, I was assigned the font Copperplate Gothic and we created and presented a PowerPoint to the whole class.
