Gestalt on Grid Reflection - Thiago A
Gestalt on Grid Reflection
by Thiago A
Our most recent design on InDesign reflects back to one of our previous designs and research, In which we dived deep into the world of Gestalt, an essential principle for Graphic Design. These principles are the use of Similarity, Proximity, Continuity, Closure, and Figure Ground. For our project, We not only used Gestalt but also had an introduction to the use of Grids; which is essential for any graphic designer. By following the grids I made 5 designs for each of the Gestalt principles. One of the designs that I am most proud of is my Closure design, which took the longest and most effort. For this design, I created a gradient using the type I was given as it slowly faded to the bottom left. One design that I believe I can improve upon is my Proximity design. Due to my lack of knowledge, I believe that my proximity design lacks the true definition that it requires, and with more effort and research it could be improved upon.
However, Overall this project was pretty fun to work on. It allowed me to learn how to use grids and know how grids work, the terminology, and the aspects/anatomy of a grid. Learning things like a Gutter, Margin, Column, Row, Etc. This also allowed me to use one of my keyboard shortcuts which I previously learned, Which was selecting an object, Holding Alt to duplicate, and Shift to lock onto an axis and move an object. This allows the precise movement and duplication of a selected object.
