Field Trip to Museum of Illustration Reflection

The Museum of Illustration or The Society of Illustrators Founded in 1901, the Society of Illustrators is the oldest nonprofit organization dedicated to the art of illustration in America.

The overall vibe of the place was really nice. Although it was a little cramped in some places, It didn't fail to show lots of illustrations from different types of people. There were also different books and covers on display which were interesting to see.

Here are my sketches of 3 different illustrations that I liked, The Semi-Realistic horse on the stairs uses a naturally cartoony color pallet that looks really silly and playful. In contrast, The Skull photo of the hooded person looks really dramatic with dark tones and contrasting blue and red. Then the comic photo has a lot of bright colors that look amazing.

There are also displays of achievements that were made by the Society of Illustrators. The two illustrations displayed demonstrate illustrations that won the Lifetime Achievement Award.

On the second floor of the building, It included many sketches and finalized work beside the finished product. I took photos of the images that interested me the most. It includes an illustration from a book I saw and skimmed through, a man with what appears a red beard being pulled on. Finally, There is some finalized line art of the comics of the Amazing Spider-Man.

As a bonus, I made a somewhat detailed drawing rendition of an illustration I saw.
